More than 100 ambitious young entrepreneurs, volunteers and mentors participated in the 4th Startup Weekend Volos, held the weekend of April 8-10 at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, at the University of Thessaly, Volos, with the support of the AKETH Developmental Center of Thessaly and DIOS Natural Mineral Water as Gold Sponsor.
Startup Weekend is a global network that promotes youth entrepreneurship and encourages the implementation of innovative ideas. Based in Seattle, Washington, it already counts more than 800 meetings in 100 participating countries over the past two years, making it the largest entrepreneurship community for today’s youth. The city of Volos was one of the first Startup Weekend hosts in the country, having more than 400 people from all over Greece involved so far.
Within “54 Hours of Pure Chaos”, candidates had the opportunity to submit and present their business ideas, have them processed and evaluated, divided in teams, in order to vote for their favorites, guided by specialized business professionals acting as mentors.
Reflecting the needs of the modern Greek market reality, this year’s top 3 winners standing out for their innovation ideas, were „My Cash Manager“ digital wallet, „Modifeye“ eyewear for people with limited eyesight and the „Clever parking“ application, while the „Laik-e“ digital platform was picked as the audience’s top choice!
